Merry Christmas and a Happy 2009!
I would like to recommend this wonderful trio from North London, just to add to the on-going festivities.
Power indie-pop and happy tunes at its best, this band won Glastonbury's new talent contest last year. Sounds like a british version of vampire weekend (for the backing organ sounds), meets arctic monkeys (for the vocals). No album out yet, but just 3 singles to whet your appetite; expect great things from the Golden Silvers!
Guaranteed to make you happy on a sad day!
Dude. How sweet is this camera? just when I was wondering a couple of years back, why don't they make digital cameras in black, just like the old days? Yeah then came the Leica and a whole host of other brands. Ok my current sony DSC T-10 is black, but it looks too modern. This has a touch of nu-old.
Retailing at £250, sounds like quite a steal doesn't it? Borrowing this from W allpaper* magazine:
"Ricoh, the Japanese digital camera manufacturer, recently released its latest offering in the compact model market, the R8, replacing the popular Caplio R7 launched last September and taking the art of high-definition photography up another notch.
With a large, high-resolution 2.7-inch LCD screen, a 10 megapixel CCD, a reworked sleek exterior emphasising simple, functional design, and incorporating Smooth Imaging Engine III processing for high-quality, low noise pictures, the new R8 proves you don't need to compromise quality for portability or aesthetics. Add to all that a 7.1x wide-angle zoom lens, expanded shooting functions (including the option of a 1:1 aspect ratio), enhanced built-in image editing capabilities and a host of other handy features such as vibration correction and automatic face recognition" yummy.
Was walking home the other day from class and chanced upon this unusual PDA action in the middle of the road! Yes you heard me, trashcan sex. How thrashy can they get? pardon the pun. Anyways, this wasn't the point of this entry. Point is, I ve got the last exam paper of possibly my life on Friday and I can't seem to kick start my engine again. I just had a tough one this morning, mind you.
I think it has been awhile since I've contributed to my monologue diaries. That being said, the bloody jokers at livejournal deleted my account. SO even if you wanted to read the archives, tough luck.
After hours of random internet surfing, these 2 sites kinda inspired me to wanna start writing again. Guess it doesn't have to angry (or sad, or long-winded, or inspiring) all the time, so stay tuned!
There's gonna be some format to this chaos below. A good friend commented,"Erm, what am I supposed to be looking for here again?"

This 9 song EP showcases the wonderful mellow-folksy indie band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Started in 1998, and even after 9 EPs and 7 albums, they are sounding better than ever! Still don't know who I am talking about?
give them a listen and be ready to be swooned over (if you like mellow folksy shite in the first place, that is).
sounds like: Neutral milk hotel, AC Newman, sometimes death cab for cutie, andrew bird.
Link: http://superobamaworld.com/dude, if you loved playing super mario bros on yer old nintendo (ok maybe DS for the generation now), you have gotta try this; Super Obama World is a simple Flash-based Mario Bros clone that pits our hero against lipstick-wearing pigs and other campaign detritus. Reasonably fun, but overwhelmed with invasive ad
Hailing all the way from Rio De Janeiro, this DJ duo really know how to get an indie disco party going. I first heard one of their remixes for the oh-so-catchy black kids' song, I'm not going to teach your boyfriend how to dance with you, and boy, did I like it so much that I had to include it in my mixtape that i mixed in my earlier entry.
Sounds like: a less fuzzy Justice, slightly more indie and groovy. Still can't imagine?

Bloc Party are set to tour Australia this November, hitting capital cities with their biggest shows yet! After performances at Splendour In The Grass in Sydney and Melbourne in 2007, both selling out in record time, fans were left wanting more. In 2008, Bloc Party return to step it up for Australia throughout November.

hello dear friends.
more recommendations comin yer way today: as the title suggests, today's two bands that i have been listening to are folksy, mellow and good for self-reflection moments.
not sure why i ve been in this contemplative mood, but have a listen nonetheless.
------------------------------------------------------------- album: APRIL
linked the band to wiki 'cos i m lazy to write about them. have included a link as to where u can download their third album.
pitchfork gives it 8.3 out of 10. these guys rarely give anything above 8. no doubt they re pretty much indie snobs but who cares!
-------------------------------------------------------------
another recent gem i chanced upon. released this year in april via a record label (it was previously self-released by justin vernon in 2007). basically a one-man show, justin sang, played all the instruments, wrote and produced the songs himself.
this album also received a good rating from pitchfork (8.1) and ranked it as one of their best albums of 2007.
not bad for a debut eh?
(this one lasts only a week so if u snooze, u lose)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- other mellow music to check out if you liked these guys:
jose gonzales m ward nick drake elliot smith stuart a. staples beach house
(didn't link anything here cos i m sure you can be bothered to google them yourselves!)
ACHTUNG!: please do not listen to these bands if you re looking for something uplifting or happy.
P.S.if you liked what u listened to, please delete the downloaded music files and purchase their CDs.Thanks!
Link: http://www.mr-lee-catcam.de/index.htmthis german dude attached a mini cam to his cat and made it take pictures wherever it went. you can view the photos taken by mr.lee (the cat) on the website. i think i m gonna buy one each for my cats. why stop at cats? get one for your dog too?
Link: http://blowup.bondartsciencefair.com/see your flickr photos in a different light! Blow up interfaces with your flickr account and "blows up" your pics. don't just take my word for it, TRY IT!
if u like what u see, they even threw in an downloadable program that u can use on your website/blog...
ok, this should have been posted say, January 2008. But oh well, better late than never right?
would love to list them all for you but that would take forever.
SO, why don't you let your mouse do the clicking and get 'em from HERE!
there's the usual indie favs like LCD soundsystem, klaxons, arcade fire and so on. but look out for other hidden gems as well. we will not spoil the fun for you now.
for a full write up on the songs you can goto -->
